CH-UI’s core is open source (Apache-2.0) and free to self-host: one binary, SQLite state, your infrastructure. A flat Pro license ($1,199/year per instance) unlocks all BSL Pro features: Governance, Cluster Health, Query Insights, Cost Center, the operations workflows (performance regressions and investigations, fleet overview, schema comparison, incident timeline, weekly reports), scheduled query jobs, Alerts, telemetry traces, metrics, service map and monitors, Ask AI and Brain agentic tools, GitHub sync, audit forwarding, and SSO/OIDC. It is activated offline with a key, no call-home, with priority support included.

The Pro license
Section titled “The Pro license”The license is flat per instance: your whole team and all your ClickHouse users are covered, no seats. Activation is a signed file you upload in Settings; verification is local, so air-gapped deployments work. See Plans & Licensing for details.

AI (Brain)
Section titled “AI (Brain)”CH-UI Brain is an AI copilot that understands your schema and writes ClickHouse-idiomatic SQL. Bring your own key: plug in your own OpenAI / OpenAI-compatible / Ollama provider on any tier. Your key, your cost, unmetered. Brain chat, skills and artifacts are in the free core; Ask AI (text-to-SQL in the editor) and the agentic tools (tool-calling) are Pro.
AI clients (MCP)
Section titled “AI clients (MCP)”The MCP server that lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other AI clients query your ClickHouse through CH-UI is part of the free core, with OAuth sign-in, scoped keys and the full audit trail. Pro adds two tools on top: query_insights_top and costs_summary.
Do you charge per user? No. The Pro license is flat per instance. Workspace access uses your ClickHouse’s own users, so neither your team nor your end-users are billed as seats.
What does the Pro license include? Does the license phone home? No, it’s a signed file verified locally against a key embedded in the binary. Air-gapped environments work.
Is there a free trial of Pro? Yes, start a free 30-day trial self-serve: your trial license is emailed to you instantly, no card and no sales contact needed. Activate it in Settings → License of your instance. And the open-source core is free forever, so you can evaluate everything outside the Pro modules indefinitely.
How do I cancel or update billing? The license is an annual subscription via Stripe. Use Manage subscription to get a billing-portal link by email. Cancel anytime and Pro keeps working until the end of the paid year.
